The 30-day e-Tourist Visa allows exactly 2 entries. This means:
- Entry 1: Your initial arrival in India
- Exit: You leave India (e.g., for a side trip to Nepal)
- Entry 2: You return to India
- After Entry 2: You must leave India by the visa expiry date and cannot re-enter
This is ideal for travelers doing an India + Nepal combo. You enter India, fly or bus to Nepal, return to India, then fly home.
Warning:
If you use both entries on your 30-day visa and then leave India, you cannot return — even if the 30 days haven't expired. Your only option would be to apply for a brand-new visa.
What "Multiple Entry" Means (1-Year & 5-Year Visas)
Multiple entry means there is no limit to how many times you can enter India during the visa's validity period. You can:
- Visit India 20 times in a year if you want
- Make quick weekend trips from neighboring countries
- Use India as a regional hub for travels across South and Southeast Asia
