India Visa for Singaporeans: Fees, Documents and How to Apply

Yes. Singapore passport holders need a visa for every trip to India, whether it's a long weekend in Chennai or a week of meetings in Bengaluru. The e-Visa covers tourism, visits to friends and family, business meetings, conferences and medical treatment. You apply online at least 4 days before arrival. There is no appointment and your passport stays with you.

Regular paper visas, for purposes the e-Visa doesn't cover, are handled by the High Commission of India, Singapore.

These are the Government of India fees for a Singapore passport, in US dollars. A 3% bank charge is added to each:

• 30-day e-Tourist: $10 for arrivals April–June, $25 for arrivals July–March
• 1-year e-Tourist: $25
• 5-year e-Tourist: $200
• e-Business and e-Conference: $120
• e-Medical and e-Medical Attendant: $80 each

The 1-year fee is lower than most nationalities pay ($40). For arrivals between July and March, the 1-year and 30-day visas carry the same $25 government fee, so the 1-year visa gives you a year of multiple entries at no extra government cost. Between April and June the 30-day visa is $15 cheaper, which only matters if you're sure it's a single trip.

• 30-day e-Tourist: one trip of up to a month, with two entries allowed within 30 days of your first arrival.
• 1-year e-Tourist: multiple entries over 12 months, up to 90 days per visit for most passports. With a $25 government fee, it's the sensible default for most Singapore travellers.
• 5-year e-Tourist: the same rules over 5 years, for people who visit India several times a year.
• e-Business: meetings, trade fairs, sales and supplier visits. Valid for 1 year with multiple entries and stays of up to 180 days. You'll need an invitation or business card from the Indian company; see what the invitation letter must include.
• e-Conference: a conference or seminar in India, with the organiser's invitation. See the e-Conference visa guide.
• e-Medical: treatment at an Indian hospital, valid 60 days from arrival with three entries. Up to 2 attendants can travel on the e-Medical Attendant visa.

An e-Visa cannot be extended or converted in India, so choose the type that covers the whole trip.

• Your Singapore passport, valid for at least 6 months from the day you arrive, with at least 2 blank pages
• A scan of the passport bio page as a PDF between 10 KB and 300 KB, with the machine-readable lines at the bottom fully visible
• A recent photo: square JPEG, plain white background, 10 KB–1 MB, at least 350 × 350 px. Our free photo tool resizes it for you.
• e-Business: a business card or the Indian company's invitation letter (PDF)
• e-Medical: a letter from the Indian hospital on its letterhead (PDF)

Most complete applications are decided within 24 to 72 hours, but this is not guaranteed. Apply at least 4 days before you fly, and earlier for trips in the busy October–March season or around school holidays. The approval arrives by email. Print it or keep it on your phone, and show it with your passport when you land.

Eligibility and fees follow your passport, not your residence. Permanent residents and Employment Pass holders apply on their own passport and pay that passport's fee:

• Indian citizens don't need a visa, and neither do OCI cardholders.
• Former Indian citizens who are now Singapore citizens need an e-Visa or an OCI card.
• Malaysians in Singapore pay the Malaysian rates, which include no government fee for the 30-day e-Tourist visa. See the India e-Visa guide for Malaysians.

You can apply from Singapore whatever your nationality, as long as your passport is eligible. See applying from outside your home country.

• Names: type them exactly as printed on the bio page, in the same order and with any hyphens. Don't add an English name or alias that isn't in the passport.
• Nationality: Singapore PRs choosing Singapore instead of the nationality in their passport
• Visa type: paying for a 30-day visa for a July–March trip when the 1-year visa has the same $25 government fee
• The passport scan: glare on the photo page, or the machine-readable lines cut off
• Travel dates: applying the night before a flight from Changi
