- e-Student Visa: Only if you're enrolled in a recognized Indian educational institution for a course of study. This is NOT for tourists who happen to be students elsewhere.
If you're a college student from the US visiting India for 2 weeks of travel, you need an e-Tourist Visa, not an e-Student Visa. The e-Student Visa is specifically for studying at an Indian university.
Bottom Line:
Going to India to travel/vacation = e-Tourist Visa. Going to India to study at an Indian school = e-Student Visa. Your status as a student elsewhere doesn't change which visa you need.
How to Apply as a Student
The application process is the same as for any other traveler. On the form:
- Select "e-Tourist Visa" as your visa type
- Occupation: Select "Student" from the dropdown
- Employer/Organization: Enter your university's name and address
- Everything else: Same as any other applicant — passport details, travel dates, photo, etc.
Documents Needed
Students need the same documents as any tourist applicant:
- Valid passport with at least 6 months validity and 2 blank pages
- Digital passport photo (JPEG, 350×350px minimum, white background)
- Passport bio page scan (PDF, under 300 KB)
- Payment method (credit/debit card)
