Indian e-Visa Guide for Norwegian Citizens

Norwegian passport holders complete an online application form providing personal, passport, and travel information. You will upload a PDF scan of your Norwegian passport bio-page and a square JPEG photograph with a white background. Payment is processed securely online, and you receive a tracking reference to monitor your application status at any time.

Norwegian citizens can choose from: 1. e-Tourist Visa in three durations (30-day double entry, 1-year multiple entry, or 5-year multiple entry). 2. e-Business Visa (1-year multiple entry) for attending meetings, trade fairs, or establishing commercial partnerships. 3. e-Medical Visa (60-day triple entry) for receiving treatment at accredited Indian hospitals. 4. e-Conference Visa for attending government-sponsored conferences or seminars.

Standard processing for Norwegian nationals typically results in approval within 3 to 4 business days. The time zone difference (Norway is UTC+1/+2 while India is UTC+5:30) means applications submitted in the Norwegian morning may see updates by the next evening. Expedited processing is available for travelers departing within 48 hours, with priority review and faster turnaround.

Norwegian citizens on a 1-year or 5-year e-Tourist visa can remain in India for up to 90 continuous days per visit. The 30-day tourist option allows double entry. Business visa holders may stay up to 180 days per calendar year across multiple entries. Norwegian travelers planning extended stays for yoga retreats, Ayurveda courses, or cultural immersion should carefully plan their visit duration to comply with the 90-day tourist limit.

There are currently no direct flights from Oslo to India. Norwegian travelers typically connect through Gulf hubs (Dubai, Doha, Abu Dhabi) or European cities (Helsinki, Frankfurt, Istanbul). Total travel time is 9 to 10 hours including the layover. Upon arrival at a designated Indian airport, present your printed ETA and Norwegian passport for biometric verification and entry stamp. Norwegian travelers should also complete the e-Arrival card within 72 hours before landing.

Norwegian citizens holding ordinary passports (marked 'Norsk Pass') with at least 6 months remaining validity from the date of arrival are eligible. Norwegian emergency travel documents and diplomatic passports are not accepted for the e-Visa stream.

Applications from Norwegian citizens are typically processed within 72 to 96 hours. Given the limited direct flight options from Oslo, we recommend applying at least 7 days before your planned departure to allow comfortable processing time.

Norwegian travelers pay fees in NOK equivalent at the current exchange rate. The government fee is set in USD, and the final NOK amount is determined at the time of payment. Long-term multiple-entry visas (1 and 5 years) are recommended for Norwegian business travelers with recurring trips to India.
