India eVisa for European Citizens 2026 — Schengen & EU Guide

All 27 EU member states and all Schengen Area countries are eligible for the India eVisa in 2026. This includes Germany, France, Italy, Spain, the Netherlands, Belgium, Austria, Sweden, Denmark, Finland, Norway, Switzerland, Portugal, Poland, Czech Republic, Greece, Ireland, Romania, Hungary, and all other member states. European citizens benefit from the standard India eVisa fee schedule in 2026. The 30-day eTourist Visa costs approximately USD 25 (around EUR 23), the 1-year multiple-entry visa is approximately USD 40 (EUR 37), and the 5-year visa is approximately USD 80 (EUR 74). Fees are charged in USD on the government portal, and European banks convert the charge to euros on your statement. A payment processing surcharge of approximately 2.5% applies. Air France operates from Paris CDG to Delhi, Mumbai, and Bengaluru. KLM flies from Amsterdam to Delhi and Mumbai. Swiss International flies from Zurich to Delhi and Mumbai. Austrian Airlines connects Vienna to Delhi. LOT Polish Airlines flies from Warsaw to Delhi. Air India operates direct flights from London, Paris, Frankfurt, Milan, Vienna, and Copenhagen to multiple Indian cities. Flight times from Central Europe to India average 7.5 to 9 hours.

A common misconception among travelers is that the Schengen visa and the India eVisa are somehow linked. They are completely independent systems operated by different governments. Holding a valid Schengen visa does not provide any benefit or expedited processing for the India eVisa application. Similarly, your India eVisa does not affect your Schengen status. Each visa must be applied for separately through its respective portal. European citizens applying for the India eVisa use their national passport, not any EU or Schengen documentation.

While the eVisa is processed entirely online, some European travelers may need embassy services for traditional sticker visas, OCI cards, or passport-related queries.
